The Queen’s Cartoonists usually specialise in scores from golden-age animation.
For their first studio album, Joel Pierson recast Mozart’s Requiem in the brisk chamber-jazz world of Raymond Scott and John Kirby.
No singers appear: reeds, brass and piano take every choral and solo line, and “Tuba mirum” really does bring in a tuba.
