This was Kenton’s second attempt at Lecuona’s “Malagueña”, following his own comparatively overlooked arrangement from 1956. Bill Holman’s much more explosive chart became a permanent showpiece, staying in Kenton’s book until the bandleader’s death and helping Adventures in Jazz win a Grammy.
