Jazzpark Bigband formed around saxophonist Lee In-kwan and sixteen young Korean jazz musicians, with the aim of bringing big-band music to a wider public. After an EP and a Christmas record, Jazzic became the group’s first full-length album.
It was presented as the first Korean big-band album devoted entirely to jazz arrangements of classical music. Themes usually associated with a soloist or symphony orchestra are opened out across brass, reeds and rhythm section, with individual players breaking through the ensemble.
