J.S. Bach

No composer has drawn more musicians into this catalogue than Bach. His independent melodic lines, strong bass patterns and clear harmonic movement give improvisers plenty to work with, while his own reputation as a keyboard improviser makes the encounter feel less unlikely than it might first appear. Loussier’s compact trio performances and Uri Caine’s exuberant collages show why “jazz Bach” has never meant just one style.
